Accessibility Statement
Last updated: August 16, 2026
1. Our Commitment
MathTestReview.com is committed to ensuring that our platform is accessible to all users, including students and teachers with disabilities. We believe every student deserves equal access to educational tools, and that accessibility is not an afterthought — it is a core requirement.
Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard across the entire Platform, including the student quiz interface, teacher dashboard, review builder, and all public-facing pages.
2. Conformance Status
MathTestReview.com aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We are in the process of ongoing evaluation and improvement. Where we are aware of specific gaps, they are documented in Section 4 (Known Limitations) below.
We test the Platform with keyboard-only navigation and with screen reader software. We use automated tooling to catch common accessibility issues during development and review findings manually before deploying new features.
Key Accessibility Features Already Implemented
- Full keyboard navigation throughout the Platform — no interaction requires a mouse.
- Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements, meeting WCAG 2.1 AA contrast requirements.
- Skip-to-main-content link available on all pages for keyboard users.
- Proper semantic HTML heading hierarchy (h1 → h2 → h3) on all pages.
- All images have descriptive alt text; decorative images are marked as aria-hidden.
- Form inputs have associated labels and appropriate aria attributes.
- Color is never used as the only means of conveying information — text and icons supplement color.
- Text color contrast meets WCAG 2.1 AA minimum ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
- Interactive touch targets meet the 44×44 pixel minimum size recommended by WCAG 2.1 AA.
- Error messages are associated with their form fields and announced to screen readers via role="alert".
- Dynamic content changes are announced to screen readers using ARIA live regions where appropriate.
- Mathematical content is rendered using KaTeX, which outputs accessible MathML alongside visual math — see Section 3.
3. Technical Specifications
MathTestReview.com relies on the following technologies for accessibility:
- HTML5 — Semantic markup for structure and meaning.
- CSS — Visual presentation with sufficient color contrast and responsive layout.
- JavaScript (React/Next.js) — Client-side interactivity with proper focus management.
- WAI-ARIA — Used for dynamic UI components where native HTML semantics are insufficient, including modal dialogs, collapsible panels, alert messages, and status updates.
- KaTeX with MathML — All mathematical content (equations, expressions, and notation in practice questions and answer choices) is rendered using KaTeX. KaTeX outputs both a visual representation and MathML, which is the standard format for screen readers to interpret mathematical content. This means users with screen readers that support MathML — including NVDA with Firefox and JAWS — can hear mathematical notation read aloud correctly.
Supported Environments
We design and test for modern web browsers. For the best accessible experience with mathematical content, we recommend:
- Firefox with NVDA (best MathML support for math content)
- Chrome or Edge with JAWS or NVDA
- Safari with VoiceOver on macOS or iOS
The Platform is fully responsive and usable on mobile devices. Touch targets are sized for comfortable use with assistive touch technologies.
4. Known Limitations
While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance, we are aware of the following limitations:
Complex Mathematical Expressions
Some highly complex mathematical expressions — particularly those involving nested fractions, multi-line equations, or specialized notation — may not be read aloud consistently across all screen reader and browser combinations. The MathML output from KaTeX is standard, but MathML support varies significantly by screen reader version and browser:
- Firefox with NVDA currently provides the most reliable MathML reading experience.
- Chromium-based browsers have historically had weaker MathML support; this is improving in recent versions with the introduction of native MathML rendering.
- VoiceOver on iOS may read some expressions as individual characters rather than as a coherent mathematical phrase.
We are actively monitoring improvements in browser and screen reader MathML support and will update our implementation accordingly. If you encounter a specific equation that is not being read correctly, please contact us — your feedback helps us prioritize fixes.
Image-Based Answer Choices
Some practice questions use image-based answer choices (for example, graphs or diagrams as answer options). All such images have descriptive alt text written by our content team. However, the quality of that description is dependent on human judgment. If you encounter an image with an insufficient or missing description, please report it.
Third-Party Components
Our authentication flow is handled by Clerk. While Clerk's components are generally accessible, we do not have full control over their implementation. If you encounter an accessibility barrier specifically on the sign-in or sign-up screens, please contact us and we will follow up with Clerk.
5. Feedback and Contact
If you experience an accessibility barrier on MathTestReview.com that prevents you from completing a task, or if you find that any part of the Platform does not meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards, we want to hear from you.
Please contact us at:
MathTestReview.comEmail: [email protected]
When you contact us, please include:
- A description of the accessibility barrier you encountered.
- The page or feature where you encountered it (a URL is helpful).
- The assistive technology and browser you are using (e.g., “NVDA with Firefox 127”).
We aim to acknowledge all accessibility feedback within 5 business days and to provide a substantive response or fix within a reasonable timeframe depending on the complexity of the issue.
6. Formal Complaints
If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility complaint, you may file a formal complaint with the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (OCR), which enforces Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as they apply to educational institutions and programs receiving federal funding.

7. Assessment Approach
MathTestReview.com assesses the accessibility of the Platform through:
- Self-evaluation: We review all new features and significant UI changes against the WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria before deployment.
- Automated testing: We use automated accessibility linting tools integrated into our development process to catch common issues (missing alt text, insufficient contrast, missing labels, etc.) before code is merged.
- Keyboard navigation testing: All interactive features are manually tested for keyboard operability — tab order, focus visibility, and keyboard shortcuts — as part of our development workflow.
- Screen reader testing: We test significant UI changes with screen readers, with a focus on the student quiz interface and teacher dashboard where accessibility is most critical.
- Ongoing monitoring: We monitor user feedback (see Section 5) for reports of accessibility barriers and use those reports to prioritize fixes and improvements.
This statement will be updated whenever we make significant changes to our accessibility practices or resolve previously documented limitations.
